British Grammy-winning singer Adele dons Vietnamese designer Cong Tri’s dress

Adele shared multiple photos of memorable moments from the 11th night of the ‘Weekends with Adele’ show, her first concert residency, on her verified Instagram account on Sunday.

The 34-year-old singer was seen wearing a chic, glamorous black dress created by designer Nguyen Cong Tri and tagged his brand in the post.

According to Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper, Cong Tri was the only Asian designer worn by Adele in the ‘Weekends with Adele’ series, alongside many luxury fashion houses such as Valentino, Givenchy, Prada, Schiaparelli, and Balmain.

Every ‘Weekends with Adele’ night, the British singer wears only one outfit, performing a series of her famous songs in front of thousands of fans.

The selection of Cong Tri’s dress for Adele’s wardrobe came after the singer’s staff admired the Vietnamese designer’s spring/summer collection in Vogue magazine and took the initiative to contact the Southeast Asia fashion talent. 

By December 2022, the two sides had come to a mutual agreement, which was coupled with some relatively demanding requirements from Adele’s side, including creating a unique design that fits her measurements perfectly without direct tailoring.

Those requirements were not difficult for Cong Tri, whose designs have been showcased at numerous international fashion events, including the London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, and Tokyo Fashion Week, and have been donned by notable individuals such as former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, singers Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Rita Ora, and English model Naomi Campbell.

His hard work resulted in a graceful off-the-shoulder black dress with a subtle opening and fireworks pattern, combined with an A-shaped figure and a delicately-embellished waist that shapes Adele’s figure but still ensures the wearer’s comfort.

Born in London in 1988, Adele is one of the best-selling music artists, with sales of over 100 million records worldwide.

She was named as the best-selling artist of the 2010s decade in the U.S. and worldwide as well as the best-selling female artist of the 21st century in the UK.

Her accolades include 16 Grammy Awards, 12 Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. 

‘Weekends with Adele’ has been held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada from November 18, 2022 and is planned to continue until March 25, 2023, comprising a five-month series of Friday and Saturday night shows.

The show has been unanimously lauded by critics. 

Katie Atkinson of Billboard called the performance “utterly and breathlessly spectacular” while Lindsay Zoladz of The New York Times said “Adele’s stage is breathtaking, full of drama and elegance befitting her voice.”
