The Chinese scholars emphasized the enduring support and friendship between Vietnam and China, even during challenging times. They recognized the value of the close relationship between Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong, which continues to be cherished by both nations and their people.

The Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has been developing fruitfully and healthily, they said.

The China People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the China-Vietnam Friendship Association have cultivated strong ties with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association. They have regularly organized cultural exchanges and festivals, which have played a significant role in enhancing people-to-people interactions, according to scholars.

At the meeting, several Chinese friends fondly remembered the indelible memories of President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and its people.

Chen Zhijin, daughter of General Chen Geng, highlighted the longstanding tradition of friendship between China and Vietnam. She shared that her father was dispatched by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to offer assistance to Vietnam. During this time, her father spoke highly of Uncle Ho, recognizing him as a greatly revered figure. He expressed his hope that the friendship forged by the senior leaders of both nations would endure for eternity.

Wei Xiaoyi, the son of General Wei Guoqing, proudly recounts his father’s role as the head of the Chinese military advisory delegation in Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam, General Wei Guoqing played a crucial role in assisting the country in its resistance against the French and even participated in the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign. Wei Xiaoyi emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and honoring the tremendous contributions made by their predecessors in strengthening the bond between Vietnam and China. He expresses his heartfelt wish for the everlasting friendship between the two nations.

The former nurse of Nanxishan Hospital (Gui Lam) was delighted to meet PM Pham Minh Chinh and the delegation. She fondly remembered her time working at the hospital in Guilin, where she treated thousands of wounded Vietnamese soldiers transferred from the battlefield.
