Cashew exports earn the country a total of US$1.6 billion throughout the reviewed period, up by 7.7% against the same period from last year. The average export price stands at an estimated US$5,805 per tonne. Vietnam ships 1.02 million tonnes of coffee overseas for US$2.4 billion in the first six months of the year, a decline of 2.2% in volume but up by 3% in value, respectively. Shrimp exports rake in US$1.2 billion in the first half of the year, an annual drop of 34%. Vietnamese rubber export revenue in the January to June period hits US$803 million with a volume of 580,000 tonnes, annual declines of 23.7% and 3.3%, respectively. The export turnover of wood and wooden products in the first half of the year reaches US$4.7 billion, showing a sharp decrease compared to last year. France and Italy Secure Spots for DIFF 2023 Grand Finale in July

France and Italy, by defeating strong opponents, have secured the highest scores and will compete for the title on the final night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023. The festival is themed ‘The World Without Distance’ and Ngo Thi Kim Yen, the vice chairwoman of the Da Nang municipal administration and head of the organizing board, has announced that the prize value has been doubled for this year’s winners. The champions will receive a prize of US$20,000 and the runners-up will be awarded a US$10,000 prize. Five Vietnamese Universities Ranked in QS World University Rankings 2024

The Duy Tan University is ranked 514 in the QS World University Rankings 2024. The Ton Duc Thang University is placed in the range of 721-730, while the Vietnam National University (VNU) – Hanoi and VNU – Ho Chi Minh City are in the range of 951-1000. The Hanoi University of Science and Technology is categorized as 1201-1400. The QS World University Rankings 2024 includes a total of 1,499 universities from 104 countries and territories. Out of these, 83 universities are entering the list for the first time. Malaysia has the highest number of ranked universities in Southeast Asia, with 28 universities. Indonesia follows with 26, Thailand has 13, Vietnam has 5, the Philippines has 5, Singapore has 4, and Brunei has 2. The spinning tops of the Tay ethnic minority are crafted from various types of wood such as ironwood, guava, and grapefruit trees. These tops feature a unique design with a round and squat body, and a sharp point at the bottom that allows them to spin effortlessly. Tay women have a unique technique for spinning tops using a fiber cord made from jute or flax. They tightly wrap the cord around either the upper or lower part of the top. This allows them to throw the top down and simultaneously pull the cord, causing the top to spin on the ground. Nong Thi Huong, a Tay woman from Luc Yen district, fondly reminisces about her experience playing top since she was in grade 6 or 7. She would always carry it with her in her schoolbag or hang it on her belt. After nearly a month, she arrived in Cuba. Since then, she had lived a vibrant, carefree and liberal Latin life, welcomed by the Cuban people with open arms, ready to teach all the students the knowledge and profession that Vietnam needs. Exhibition of Photos Highlighting Vietnamese and Laotian World Heritage Sites

The Vietnamese Department of Fine Arts, Photography, and Exhibition and Vietnam Cultural Centre in Laos jointly organised an event that showcased 180 photos, including 160 capturing 26 heritages of Vietnam and four heritages of Laos. These photos featured iconic landmarks such as Hoi An ancient town, My Son sanctuary, Thang Long imperial citadel, Ha Long Bay, Hue court music, the ancient capital of Luang Prabang, Wat Phou world heritage site, Plain of Jars, and Khaen music. The exhibition, which showcased photographs taken by various Vietnamese and Lao photographers, effectively conveyed the current beauty, value, and vitality of these heritages.
